About the JHJ School of Business Alumni Association
The Jesse H. Jones School of Business Alumni Association is a chapter of the Texas Southern University National Alumni Association. The Association takes pride in serving TSU and the JHJ community by offering:
- Career Advice. Alumni members speak in various classes to provide students with perspectives about the world of business, broaden their career aspiration, and present positive role models to students.
- School Support and Presence. Alumni assist the School with activities on an off campus as volunteers and attendants to various events.
- Student Scholarships. Members of the Association sell raffle tickets, host receptions, and sponsor activities to raise funds for student scholarships for business students.
About Verdis Wilson
Verdis is a native Houstonian. He earned his Bachelor of Administration Degree in
Accounting from Texas Southern University, Jesse H. Jones School of Business. Verdis
is currently Auditor Supervisor for the City of Houston where he supervises a team
of five senior auditors. On a daily basis, Verdis assists management with evaluating
the effectiveness of operations and controls over assets through operational, contract
and audit compliance reviews. Aside from being the 2016-2017 President of the TSU
JHJ School of Business Alumni Chapter, Verdis is also a member of The Institute of
Internal Auditors (IIA), Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA) and National
Forum for Black Public Administrators – Houston Chapter (NFBPA).
Verdis enjoys giving back through volunteer work. Verdisvolunteers with the community outreach organization, Rebuilding Together Houston, which provides home repair and renovation services to low-income homeowners in need.
He also volunteers with the Mayor of Houston’s Annual Back 2 School Fest which prepares students in need with supplies andmaterials for the school year. Verdis is active in his community and Jerusalem Baptist Church. Verdis was recently named one of Houston's top '40 Under 40' Next Generation of Leaders by i10Media Magazine.

Meetings
The Alumni Association meets every third Friday of each month (except June and July) from 6 p.m. -7:30 p.m. in the JHJ building in room 128.
Mission
The mission of the Jesse H. Jones School of Business Alumni Association is to foster, promote, explore, and advance new and innovative activities and programs that will enhance the career opportunities, lives and goals of the students at and from the School of Business at Texas Southern University.
History
The JHJ Alumni Association was reorganized in September of 1990. The very first officers were elected in 1991 and Anthony Gobert served as the first president from 1991-1994. The goal of the chapter is to award scholarships to students who need help in purchasing books or paying fees. Over the years, the organization has awarded more than 56 scholarships totaling over $30,000.
Since its reorganization, the chapter strives to involve alumni in the many programs and services. The chapter is a chartered organization of the National Alumni Association.

There are many ways to get involved with the Jesse H. Jones School of Business. Alumni can provide an invaluable service to the students, faculty, staff, and fellow alumni through their talent and time.
